Ross Weidman One of best albums of 2020, and it's criminal how underheard it is. Incredibly creative and unique, Trevor seems to be saying that it's hard not to be jaded with the way the world holds us down, but he answers with a mighty shrug of hope or indifference - it can be hard to tell which it is at the end of your rope. An outstanding set of last-call-songs. Favorite track: Time to Go.

A diamond is a diamond A demand is a demand Sometimes you won't like the news But you'll take it like a lamb No more rogue adventures No more solitary stands And no more lonely rides out on the land All your demons are demeaning And your appetites are bland If you don't like the menu son You can eat out of a can Some things ain't for certain Some things you won't understand And sometimes you get the final word from the backside Of a hand Oooee ain't that funny Oooee hot damn Will she still call me baby When I'm cryin' like a man A diamond is a diamond A demand is a demand Hell surely hath no fury Like a man down fifteen grand Some things ain't so certain But most will cost a few clams And nothing says forever like a shining Pile of sand Oooee ain't that funny Oooee hot damn Will she still call me baby When I'm cryin' like a man

Time to Go 03:06
Babe grab your jacket, hit the door Leave the salt and ketchup on the floor I'll grab a to-go bag and settle up the tab We had a good night, played a wild show But they don't want us here no more Egg is frying in the pan Dust is settling again Gone the loose womens, gone the loose mens The diner at daytime is a family place I'm told And they don't want us here no more One more yawn, hit the john, time to go One more sip, one last drip, time to go Pack the van, come on man, time to go Shake a leg, that's what they said Man I was tired anyhow You don't gotta 86 us now Gave you all our money and played you songs galore We broke a table, but fixed a leaky hole But you don't want us here no more We had a good night, played a wild show But they don't want us here no more

I’m a two sided nickel with a heads and a tail One lands in heaven, the other lands in hell Ones lands in church and the other lands in jail You never ever never can tell I flip it every morning when I wake up and rise Look down at the floor and rub both my eyes How this brand new day will go for me I flip that old nickel and see Will I get fat, or I get skinny Will I act dumb, or I get witty Some days ugly, other pretty I bounce that nickel of a jaguars titty I’m a two sided nickel with a heads and a tail One won’t buy, and one won’t sell One stood up, the other fell You never ever never can tell Guess you could say that I got two sides One just laughs, the other just cries Which one from my bed will rise I flip that nickel, and shut my eyes Will I stay poor, or hit it big Will I find gold, or just a twig Will she love he for who is him Or will she see my evil twin Will I get caught, or case go cold Will I get shot, or make parole Will I eat dirt, or casserole You never know I’m a two sided nickel with a heads and a tail One lands in heaven and the other lands in hell Ones lands in church and the other lands in jail You never ever never can tell

Terrible Terry had a piano problem Some of y'all know what I mean Too many songs and no one who could lead 'em No one that is but big T Terrible started out singing on Sundays Reading his lines from the pews But after a while he never handled a hymnal And got by on ivory and booze Whenever T met with a lonely piano No mater how old or detuned He couldn't resist just dragging it back home To increasingly chock a block rooms So Terrible's aggregate piano problems Were 7 or 8 I recall 3 in the bedroom and 3 in the kitchen And 1 or 2 out in the hall Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terry's Terrible Trouble is Terry had a sweetheart with a limit A limit she tried to ignore Til the night he came home with another old upright And got it stuck in the front door She goes or I go said Terry's old lady And knew that this time would be hard Then Terry got out a tow chain from his pickup And dragged the thing out in the yard The doorframe came with it and so did the wall Not to mention the porch and two trees And the whole pile lay out there drinking the rain While Terry stood by looking pleased Terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible Terry's terrible When Terry's wife left him to deal with his wreck And found a more reasonable home Terry gazed out where the wall was still missing And felt empty and old and alone For months that piano sat under an old ginkgo Gathering berries and leaves Til Terry completed a new home addition And went back to tickling keys Terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible Terry's terrible

Midnight Man 03:41
Lost little lamb With a buffalo tan I got blood on my shirt I got a cut on my hand And I’m a midnight man, I’m a midnight man I took your advice And put in on ice You got maraschino lips And sweet vermouth eyes And I’m a midnight man, I’m a midnight man I’m wearing your perfume In an sacred tomb You got flowers on the wall Of your hotel room And I’m a midnight man, I’m a midnight man Slip into the oil Of a jet black night Red shootin' star Of a broken tail light I’m a midnight man, I’m a midnight man I told you honey, I can’t tell ya where I’m goin’. It’s for your own good. But I promise that if I can make it back here alive, everything will be better than it was before. Rollin' down the window A california breeze Cigarette tracers And jangling keys And I’m a midnight man, I’m a midnight man

Well I used to wake up With eyes open wide Living days out in a straight line Never straying to the side Getting high on nothing But the mountains in the sky Well then I started wondering What the hell was my reward For walking a road so narrow And feeling kind of bored So I rolled into the city Where the streets were wide and hard Downtown I met someone Who didn't give a name And told me living in the shadows Was living just the same And poured me our a dark and stormy So I sat and let it rain Yum yum taste that rum Woke up in a cold sweat Day hit me like a train Didn't know which way my home was Didn't even know my name So I lit out running Past the hills across the plains Run run move that bun All the way to California Living high off the land Where the world it was my oyster Every wish was a command Ran down to greet the ocean And the pearls out on the sand These days I run for refuge Where the air is clear and dry No clouds and no temptation Every darkening my eyes Staying high on nothing But the mountains in the sky Run run move that bun

Eat My Hand 04:02
Sometimes you can't shake the doom You feel it settle round you like a living room And when they get all over you Here's three words they'll understand Eat My Hand Eat my hand for breakfast Eat my hand all day Keep on through the evening Cause it won't go away Sometimes you don't know the tune But you still sing along just like you think you do Pick up your guitar Tell the strings your new command Eat My Hand

This little doggy don’t sleep no more He’s got two little kittens who need it more He pulls on his boots and heads to the store To get a six pack bread and mayo He gets a six pack bread and mayo That ain’t too healthy This little doggy is a jungle gym He’s got two little monkeys climbing over him It’s been a lot of fun but when he’s done He gets the six pack bread and mayo He gets a six pack bread and mayo That ain’t too healthy This little doggy don’t sleep no more He finally fall asleep and starts to snore But the window breaks he’s gotta stay up late To get a six pack bread and mayo To get a six pack bread and mayo And fix the window This little doggy used to be the man A rollin’ stone without a plan Now he stays in town and hangs around To get the six pack bread and mayo He gets a six pack bread and mayo Summer comes along and they hit the pool Mama’s lookin’ good and he’s feeling’ cool But it ain’t so great, you know he’s outta shape Because of six pack bread and mayo Because of six pack bread and mayo That ain’t too healthy

Darling will you dance me to the exit Cause I don't need this dealin' and deceivin' anymore Play Fats Domino out in the headlights of our car With the moon and the stars up above Honey will you hold my hand forever So I don't end up twirlin' with some other lonely lamb Save it for the Drifters and our last dance in the sand With the moon and the stars up above Sweetheart will you let me sleep tomorrow So I don't have to see you in the sunshine when I rise Jukebox lights neon and the flash of your green eyes Are the moon and the stars and our love

Well I traveled far to get here, did a lot of good Read the bible and lived like it said I should Never said a bad word, never cursed I rehearsed to be an angel and sang each verse Oh I took the high road, and when I grew old I looked forward to those streets of gold But heaven ain’t got tacos and beers Why didn’t anyone tell me Heaven ain’t got tacos and beers What in the hell are we doin' here When I asked him for the check he said buddy what the heck I ain’t even read you all of our specials yet I said, Michael Angel, angel please Would you show me the exit, I gotta to leave Out the window, I was free Left my halo my wallet and silky white wings Cause heaven ain’t got tacos and beers Why didn’t anyone tell me That heaven ain’t got tacos and beers What in the hell are we doin’ here
